A Wee Bit Irish

Even though St. Patrick is strongly linked to Ireland, the St. Patrick’s Day celebration is not actually just an Irish event. The day is an international celebration, which means it’s celebrated all over the world. So whether you’re Irish or not, you can be a wee bit Irish on March 17, 2018.

So why is it customary to wear green on St. Pat’s Day? The tradition was popularized by Irish immigrants, who believed that wearing green made them invisible to leprechauns, fairy creatures who would pinch anyone they could see. Pinching people who didn’t wear green reminded them that leprechauns could sneak up on them at any time.

So whether you choose to deck yourself out in a green suit, like this one from Hudson’s Bay, or shamrock adorned accessories from Urban Planet, American Eagle, Claire’s or Thing’s Engraved, make sure you wear green on March 17 so the leprechaun’s can’t see you!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Kingsway Mall.
